Foraging and Wild Food Courses
One-Day Foraging and Wild Food courses held in North Wales
£55 per person
Over the last few years the popularity of finding 'food for free' in hedgerows, the edges of fields and woodland has increased massively, and we receive many enquiries every year about foraging courses.
We offer courses in Spring, Summer and Autumn to take advantage of the changing seasons and the varieties of foods and plants available at different times of year. Our one-day foraging course takes place near the small rural town of Ruthin in Denbighshire, and show what is available in various areas of fields, woodland and hedgerows.
The itinerary for the day includes:
-
An overview of the laws regarding access and what you can and cannot pick/gather
-
Examples of the main types of foodstuff you can gather at different times of year, and where you are likely to find them
-
Short walks to explore and collect from the local environment (what is available is dependant on time of year)
-
Preparation of the items you have gathered (and the consumption of!)
-
Fresh game or fish preparation (alternative activity for vegetarians or those unhappy with game preparation can be arranged)
-
Recipe ideas and tips on cooking with wild food
